The War Angels began under the clubs former name, The Bay Area Assassins. The Bay Area Assassins
took aim on the Golden State Amateur Football League AA Division in 2004 by winning the League
Championship 10-6 over the Fresno Red Hawks, a team ranked second in the country in AA division by
the Minor League Football News. The Assassins were crowned State Champion by default. The Bay
Area Assassins finished the year 10-3 and ranked 4th in the country in the AA division. The following year
the Assassins move up to the AAA division and beat out the Central Coast Barnstormers to become
GSAFL AAA South Division Champs. The Barnstormers went on to even the record between the two
teams at 1-1 by beating the Assassins 20-18 in the second round of the playoffs. The Assassins finished
7-4 in 2005. In 2006 the Assassins joined the Northern California Football Federation. The league was
formed due to the closure of the GSAFL. The Assassins went undefeated in league play 8-0, which
earned them a first round bye. The Assassins went on to beat the North Valley Lions for the second time
in one season to secure the chance to play in the NCAFF First Championship Game against the
Barnstormers. The Assassins were disqualified for an alleged illegal player participation infraction. The Bay
Area War Angels will try to continue its winning ways of the past for 2008 season.
